Full House Remodel

This whole house remodel was an amazing project. Just scroll through the before and after pictures to see the transformation! I used a design program to redesign the floor plan. The homeowner wanted to take advantage of the view of the back yard and pool area. She felt the family room was closed off from the kitchen and wanted the kitchen in the back of the house allowing more light and ease of flow to the backyard pool area. Starting with the foyer that was being used as a dining room. I closed off the space to create a traditional foyer which also allowed room for the 1/2 bath to move from the back of the house to the front. The laundry was moved from the primary bedroom closet to the front hall as well. Both rooms accessed by pocket doors. I repurposed the existing mantel as an open shelf in the foyer. A new hand hewn beam replaced the old mantel. Faux beams were used to accentuate the vaulted ceiling in the family room. The fireplace got an update by filling in the arched space with a herringbone brick pattern and filling in the "steps" on the hearth. Then the fireplace was painted white to help brighten and update the space. Flooring was replaced throughout with wide plank white oak. The kitchen was moved from the front of the house to the back. The new dining room replaced the old kitchen space. The new kitchen was opened up to the family room. I designed the new layout of the kitchen and worked with a custom cabinet maker to create a spacious and luxurious chef's kitchen that is open the family room for wonderful entertaining opportunities.
The primary bedroom is on the main level. I helped the homeowner update the flow of the room and redesigned the primary bath. We added custom storage to the toilet room, a new free standing tub in replacement of the built in one, a new double vanity replaced the single one, and we opened up the dark enclosed shower to allow more space and more light. Both rooms had molding added to the walls to add a little extra to the space.
Upstairs there were 3 bedrooms and one bath and a long narrow hallway. The homeowner wanted to change one of the bedrooms into a 2nd bath so that the 2 upstairs bedrooms would have en-suites. I felt the long hallway to the guest room was a waste of space so I created a 2nd primary suite on this level. Double doors open into a large bedroom space overlooking the family room. Two frosted sliding doors can be closed to provide privacy yet still allow natural light to flow into the bedroom. In this bedroom we flipped the closet from one side of the room to the other to allow for a walk in closet space with custom built ins. By making the hallway part of the room, we also created a space for a sitting area. The new bathroom was added with a double vanity and a huge shower with rain shower-head. We even added a skylight in the shower to allow natural light and a view of the tree tops and sky! This is a guest suite that any guest would never want to leave!
The other existing upper level guest room got an update by flipping the side that the closet was one to create a walk in closet. The connecting bathroom also got an update by closing off the door to the prior hallway, adding a linen closet, a new rounded tub/shower, new tile, and a new vanity. The new space is now an updated en-suite with the extra storage the homeowner requested.
This homeowner gave me full control of this entire remodel. I guided the homeowner in all her choices of finishes; paint colors, flooring, lighting, tile, countertops, furniture and accessories. I would welcome the opportunity to work with you on your redesign project whether it be just one room or your entire house!
